Seamen of Danneskjold is an EverQuest guild on the Rathe server. Ragnar Danneskjold is a character from Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged." He is a pirate and philosopher. One of Ragnar's motivations is deconstructing the myth of Robin Hood. He holds that taking from the rich to give to the poor is an injustice.
Our country is governed under the guise of Robin Hood today. The government takes from the producers in the form of taxes. It then uses the revenue generated to provide unearned benefits and entitlements. This is welfare. The recipients of the welfare then vote for the politicians who provided it, encouraging them to provide more. The cycle continues until its inevitable breakdown. Part of Ragnar's mission is to stop the looting of the producer class and let people keep what they have fairly earned.
While "Seamen" is an apt description of Ragnar's crew, it also provides our guild with endless entertainment in the form of extremely juvenile jokes. We take Ragnar's philosophy seriously, but there is always room for comedy. The Seamen plan to have a good time in the lands of Norrath, earning their own rewards while ignoring the prevalent beggars and whiners.
